Recycled Paper Workshop

Come experiment with the fun craft of creating handmade recycled paper.

Making your own recycled paper is a great way to get started in paper making and to reuse all the old scraps of paper you would normally send to the recycling center or just throw away.

In this workshop we will:

• Create our own paper pulp

• Experiment with adding organic materials and embedding objects in paper

• Explore ways to add color to paper

• Have the chance to try experiment with with different paper techniques like embossing and creating 3 dimensional forms

• Create lots of paper to take home or give as gifts

  Learn the basics of how to make recycled paper so you can keep creating on your own

This workshop is open to all ages, though anyone 12 and under MUST be accompanied by an adult. This is an excellent workshop for families to take together because children really get excited about pulling and decorating papers- but you know your kids best so please use your judgement and reach out with any questions and concerns. I will not be able to offer refunds if young people lose interest part way through.

GOOD TO KNOW:

Papermaking uses a lot of water- be prepared for whatever clothing you wear to get wet- a light water resistant or water proof jacket might be nice to bring as an option.

This workshop will take place in my studio at McGuffey Art Center or outside on the front lawn if the weather is nice.
